Sheringham in Bloom maintain a number of planters and beds to supplement those planted up by the North Norfolk District council.
It is important that these areas look welcoming and attractive, but it is also important that conservation issues are kept in mind when planning the planting themes. The areas along the Cromer Road are deliberately planted with bright and long flowering displays to attract the attention of passing motorists who may well be tempted to stop and visit. In other areas the displays are gradually changing over to more permanent planting, and the team is experimenting with various types of plants to find those that perform well but still give the colour that the public like to see.
There are also areas where visitors and residents can sit and enjoy the gardens. Otterndorf Green is now well established but still improving and the Arboretum is in its early stages and will continue to become more established over the next 5 years or so.
Sheringham in Bloom is well supported by local sponsors and ensures that all sponsorships are prominently displayed on the planters and beds.
Sponsorship signs have recently been improved by including the logos of the sponsors and this has proved very successful. The SiB logo is also included to ensure that that planting done by the team is recognised around the town.
The planting on the new roundabout was eagerly snapped up by one sponsor and there are now four signs, all meeting Council requirements, facing each entrance road.
