Community projects

Sheringham in Bloom is part of the community of Sheringham and tries to become involved with as many aspects as possible in the life of the town.

The team is actively involved with the Christmas lights switch on, and also manage to get quite a number of people together for the annual crocus bulb planting in October.  The library hold events for young people in the summer months and the team helps out with these, and the Sheringham in Bloom competitions are held every year and try to cover the full spectrum of the population.

Apart from these events the team hold an awards evening every September inviting over 100 people to help celebrate the year’s campaign, there are fund raising events in the town, mainly a plant stall and tombola and we invite volunteers to help maintain Franklin Hill, an are in the middle of the town with wonderful views over the countryside and a haven for wildlife.

The team were also able to show the AiB judges other aspects of community effort taking place in Sheringham, even though these are not necessarily directly part of SiB’s work.  These included the art work on the beach front and  the Art & Sculpture Trail,  North Norfolk Railway and the new railway crossing which directly affected Otterndorf Green, plus all the work that is undertaken by volunteers on the Commons and not forgetting the new museum – The Mo - which is manned and run by volunteers.
